Identifying highly cost-effective programs is difficult and costly. Fortunately, there are independent impact evaluators who rigorously analyze the most promising programs, publishing their results and methodology.

In the global health and poverty cause area, we rely on the evaluations of GiveWell, which spends over 70.000 hours a year analyzing the most effective programs.

In other cause areas we rely on the research of Giving What We Can. Its team evaluates the methodology of multiple independent evaluators, selects the most rigorous ones, and combines their results to identify the programs with the highest impact.

When it comes to donating, some very specific ways of helping are 10-100x more effective than others. Ayuda Efectiva only funds the small number of charitable programs that help the most per euro.

In the medium term, we may add some new programs, but the number will always remain limited: we support only the most cost-effective programs to maximise our impact.

Yes: Fundación Ayuda Efectiva complies with the requirements of Law 49/2002 so that your donations are tax deductible in Spain, both for personal income tax (including "Ley Beckham" residents) and corporate tax.

You can deduct donations to all our programs and funds, as well as those supporting our work. At the beginning of each year, we will register your donations with the tax authorities and send you a yearly donation certificate by email.

No: The donations we receive for our programs and those we receive to support our work are kept separate.

When you donate to our programs, you can choose how much of your donation goes toward supporting our work. We recommend allocating 90% to programs and 10% to supporting our work, but you can choose the percentage you prefer.

In order to finance our own expenses, we receive specific donations from three groups:

  • "Patrons": Especially in the initial phase, Ayuda Efectiva was sustained thanks to donations from a group of people (our “patrons”) who have supported us (or continue to support us) because of our multiplier effect on the money moved to the most effective programs.
  • Donors who support our work: Many of our donors choose to support our work by allocating a percentage of their donations to cover our costs. They value our content, technology, advice, and multiplier effect.
  • Non-profit organizations in the field of effective altruism: There are philanthropic organizations with a strategic vision for effective giving, such as Coefficient Giving and the Center for Effective Altruism, which support projects such as Ayuda Efectiva.

In our transparency section, you can view the figures for all donations made to support our work over the years.

If you want to modify or cancel a recurrent donation, you can easily do so from your account at any time.
